We’re really in this for a while. When we return, life will be different.
Schools online. Work is online. No games, concerts, recitals, church, hangouts.
I just want to curl in bed and escape into Derry Girls, or I’m motivated to clean all the things.
I am losing my mind with my family, or I’m so grateful for this time with my kiddos.
I feel the malaise of day after day without outside structure or I enjoy every day feeling like a slow spring Saturday.
I can wait to feel inspired to create a new normal. Based on my fickle motivation, I think inspiration isn’t going to be enough.
So, I’ll take tiny steps toward a healthy now and healthy next.
That’s listening to my needs and pushing myself.
That’s cutting my expectations in half and prioritizing action.
That’s being present now and planning for later.
Can I encourage you to do the same? Dream a little. Do a little.
Based on my fickle motivation, I think inspiration isn’t going to be enough.
Here are 5 little explorations for you:
Learn a bit. The Bright Side Conference from Jess Ekstrom is not only virtual, but also pay-as-you-can! All about imagining the future, mindset, connection, setting priorities, task management, and more, the conference is at your own pace and opens Saturday. If you register before Wednesday, 4/22, you get a copy of Jess’s book, Chasing The Bright Side.
Dream a bit. What if you could change how you earned money for your family and explore a passion? Brian Dixon, co-founder of Hope*Writers is doing two free trainings! Monday, 4/20 at 2pm and Tuesday, 4/21 at 8pm Eastern. Dream a little! One hour might be just the excitement you need!
Think a bit. Check on yourself and your relationships. I’m doing a talk on Conflict and Relationships (with a tiny Enneagram bit thrown in!) as a part of an online Mental Health Summit. There are options from free to all-access pass. Watch me from my home office on May 6!
Chat a bit. Sometimes you just need someone else to listen to you talk and ask a different question. As a coach, I’m here to help! Book a free session with me. I have a few sessions open over the next few weeks. It’s amazing what a few moments talking it out does.
Help a bit. Serve someone else. Make a treat. Send a text. Write a real-life card with pen and paper. Stock a food pantry. Drop a book or flowers on someone’s front stoop. Your actions to serve others help create the new life you want.
I’ll take tiny steps toward a healthy now and healthy next.
I’m positive I won’t always be positive. I’m just choosing to step forward.
Tiny steps. Let’s go together.
